Research Assistants carrying the title of Project Engineer

The Human-Computer Communications Laboratory has two job openings for Research Assistants carrying the title of Project Engineer.

Applicants should have

i. a Bachelors degree or above in Systems / Software Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent;

ii. 2 to 3 years' relevant experience in information systems development, maintenance and administration, as well as design and development of internet, mobile and speech-related applications;

iii. good software engineering skills (including C, C++, scripting languages like Bash and Perl, etc.), familiarity with the Linux and Windows platforms

iv. proficiency in spoken and written English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua)

v. good ability to cooperate in a team and good communication skills.

vi. knowledge in signal processing and linguistics will be an advantage.

Duties: Research and development of speech recognition technologies for computer-aided pronunciation training. Systems implementation, trouble-shooting, installation and demonstration. Design, collection and organization of speech recordings of English language learners. Appointment will be made on a 1-year contract, renewable subject to mutual agreement and good performance.
