R&D Engineer
The Human-Computer Communications Laboratory (HCCL) of the Department of Systems Engineering & Engineering Management (SEEM), The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), is seeking a dynamic, mature and responsible technical staff member to fill the position of an R&D Engineer.
Job specifications:
1. To coordinate within the HCCL laboratory, to develop novel technologies and implement / integrate information systems;
2. General hardware, software, system architecture and network support related to technologies, integrated systems as well as embedded systems;
3. To coordinate and liaise with the technical team members in partnering laboratories and research groups to realize novel research ideas;
4. To provide technical support (such as trouble-shooting, installation, etc.) for various demonstration systems related to the HCCL;
5. To master presentations of technologies and showcasing of the demonstration systems various visits and exhibitions related to the HCCL ;
6. Compilation of user guides and documentation related to the demonstration systems;
7. Any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
Applicants should have a bachelor's degree or above in computer/information science, systems engineering or related discipline;
Fluency in English and Cantonese (Command of Putonghua helpful);
At least 2 years' experience in software development, systems integration and
Good organizational, communication and technical skills;
Knowledge in system administration of PC, Solaris, Unix and Linux server;
Sound knowledge of IIS, Netscape Enterprise Server, SQL Server, Oracle or Informix Database Server;
Proficient programming skills in JavaScript, Java, Javasript, ASP, Perl, C, C++, CGI, Visual Studio .NET (especially C# and VC++) as well as experience with the Windows environment;
Experience with embedded platforms, Symbian, WinCE, Windows Mobile, etc.
Familiar with the website development tools and graphic/animation design software such as Photoshop, Dreamwaver, etc.;
A good team-player and out-going person, independent, self-motivated, well-organized, multi-tasking, responsible and reliable;
