Gang Yu is Vice President, Worldwide Procurement at Dell Inc. Prior to Dell, Dr. Yu served as Vice President, Worldwide Supply Chain Operations at Amazon.com. He received his Ph.D. from the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania in 1990, and earned his M.S. from Cornell University in 1985. Before joining Amazon, Dr. Yu served as the Jack G. Taylor Professor in Business in the Department of Management Science and Information Systems at the McCombs School of Business, the University of Texas at Austin, Director of the Center for Management of Operations and Logistics, and co-Director of the Center for Decision Making under Uncertainty. He is the Founder, former Chairman and CEO of CALEB Technologies Corporation. He has worked as a consultant for over a dozen US companies including IBM, EDS, Continental Airlines, Northwest Airlines, and Tracor Applied Sciences. In addition to serving as an Adjunct Professor at CUHK, Dr. Yu also carries the title of Chair Professor at Tsinghua University, Wuhan University, and Shanghai Jiaotong University, and Adjunct Professor at Zhejiang University, Nanjin University, Xian Jiaotong University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Xiamen University, and People's University of China.

Dr. Yu has also received numerous awards for recognizing his achievements including: the 2002 Franz Edelman Management Science Achievement Award from INFORMS, the 2002 IIE Transaction Award for Best Application Paper, and the 2003 Outstanding IIE Publication Award from the Institute of Industrial Engineers, in addition to many awards.

Dr. Yu has been awarded over 30 research grants from federal agencies including NSF, ONR, CNNSF, RGC, as well as from many corporate sponsors. The decision support systems he developed for United Airlines, IBM, Continental Airlines, and Northwest Airlines generate tens of millions of dollars in annual savings for the companies. Dr. Yu's work has earned him prominent recognition in the US transportation, logistics, and manufacturing industry, his accomplishments have been reported in numerous international magazines and newspapers.

Dr. Yu has published over 70 journal articles, 4 books, and numerous conference proceedings, book chapters, industry magazine articles, and working papers. He has given over 150 conference presentations and organized many international conferences. Dr. Yu holds 3 US patents. He serves on the editorial board of 5 professional journals.
