Xiaoqiang Cai is Professor and Head of Graduate Division of the Department of Systems Engineering
and Engineering Management (SEEM) at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). He is also
the Director of the Centre for Logistics and Supply Chain Optimization at the Faculty of Engineering,
and the Dean of General Education of the Lee Woo Sing College of CUHK.
He received his B.Eng. degree from the Harbin Shipbuilding Engineering Institute
in 1982 and his M.Eng. and D.Eng. degrees from Tsinghua University in
1985 and 1988 respectively. During 1989-91, he conducted postdoctoral research
at The University of Cambridge and The Queen's University of Belfast.
He was Lecturer at The University of Western Australia in 1991-1992,
before joining CUHK in 1993. He served as the Head of Department of SEEM
during 1996-2003, and has been Professor since October 2000.
Prof. Cai has his current research focused on scheduling models and algorithms,
logistics and supply chain management, network optimization, and portfolio optimization.
He has published extensively in leading journals in these areas,
including Operations Research, Management Science, Production and Operations Management, Naval Research Logistics,
IIE Transactions, and IEEE Transactions,
with 96 journal articles and 13 books or book chapters.
He has served on the editorial boards of several
international journals, including IIE Transactions on Scheduling
and Logistics, and the Journal of Scheduling.
